Hello, Linda, I have some small knowledge of the Greers in Scott County, MO as my great grandmother Martha Jane Ancell's sister Nancy married Abner Greer in Scott County. The Goodspeed biographical article on page 929 of Southeast Missouri Anals and Biographical Sketches states that their marriage took place on 2 February 1869. I noticed that you have an interest in Amanda Greer. I just happened to notice, in going over some of my records that I obtained by writing to the county clerk, that the marriage record of Mandy Greer or Grier immediately follows that of my great grandmothers on page 71 of the marriage book. She married Christopher Cronica on 22 September 1865. There are two Greers listed in the biographical sketches. One is Abner, born in Hopkinsville, KY in 1834 and then John B Greer, born 14 July 1860 in Scott County. MO. It does not state that these men are related. Abner's parents were Johnathon and Mary Hopson Greer, originally from South Carolina. Goodspeeds were poor records at best but better that nothing. Look at the proofreader asleep at the wheel." Johnathon Greer was born in South Carolina in 1804 and died in 1811. His wife was born in Virginia in 1811. Wonder how they got together. Let me know if I can send copies. Joseph Rogers
