Thanks for the information. I have since learned that Rhoda Ann's maiden name was probably not Neff. She married Joseph Neff late in life. So in that way, I have hit a brick wall. The only Rhoda Ann that I can find born in NY in the 1830's was a Smith, but she doesn't seem to correspond. Also, I have no proof that Rhoda ever married a Grant. Why Adelaide would have that last name then, we don't know. Currently we are trying to find Rhoda's or Adelaide's death certificates. No luck so far.
