I am interested in finding ancestors and descendents of William Franklin Given, born 28 April 1868 in Charleston, Kanawha County, West Virginia. In his obituary it states he had 2 sisters, Florence Slice of Bowdon, North Dakota; Martha Murphy of Paron Arkansas and a brother, Jasper of Bowdon, North Dakota. His parents were Thomas and Elvira. William Franklin Given was a union organizer that worked for John L. Lewis in organizing coal miners. His son, Lloyd Jasper(my grandfather) was also a coal miner, and died of black lung in 1929. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much. Pamela Tippett |
