This John was his grandfather. Joseph Gibson, who died in North Carolina was his father. John Gibson b. 1760 was the oldest son; of Joseph. I am sure of this. I think Joseph Gibson was married to a Mary before he married Elizabeth Hand. I don't know for certain which wife was John's mother. John Gibson of the will, had a son John H. Gibson born Jan 1, 1805 died July 12, 1882 in Green County, Missouri. He might have been named after the other John H. Gibson. Maybe you can help me with a hunch I have on my Gibson line. Their was a George Gibson, and two Fields brothers who went on the Louis and Clark Expedition. The daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Hand Gibson, Mary, born Dec 24,1754 Rockingham Co, NC md John Fields, Jr. born April 3, 1752 in Hanover Co, Va. He applied for pension Jan 15, 1833, in Rockingham co, NC. He stated he was a soldier in NC. Mary and John Fields had sons; Jeremiah, Nathaniel, and John. I think someone sent me a e-mail several years ago about the George Gibson. There something on the Internet as well. I lost a lot of information when my computer crashed several years ago. Do you have any information about these people? John Gibson b. 1760 was a Revolutionary Soldier in NC, his wife Margaret Joyce's father, was Alexander Joyce, who was also a Revolutionary soldier. He was a very wealthy man who had two wives, and twenty children. He had been in business in Virginia with the father of Patrick Henry; so the story goes. I think Joseph Gibson father of John, was on the Stono Expedition. I have some dates but will have to look them up.
