SC, Spartanburg Co., SC Abstracts/Deeds by A. B. Pruitt Lists sale of Philip Gibbs’ land to Henry Ayers, saving half the land and orchard for his mother, Susanne, as “long as she pleases or lives. Deed states land was inherited from his father, John Gibbs (who was married to Susanne Phillippe). Date: September 20, 1786….and son Philip had moved to Wilkes Co, GA. The Phillippe name carried to Zacharias’ (son of John Gibbs and Susanne Philip) two daughters is the lone “proof” of this surname to date. Spelling of name (one “l” or two “l’s”) unsure. Any help on these people will be greatly appreciated.
