Thank you for finding the Bruss family I was seeking in the books recording the Old Lutherans who emigrated from Pomerania, Prussia, to America in 1839. The family members -- as recorded in 1839 were from Pomerania, Kreis Kammin, location Kammin -- were Martin Friedrich Bruss, age 40, journeyman ship's carpenter; Sophie Bruss, née Stiemke, age 37, w; August Bruss, age 9, s; Martin Bruss, age 6, s; Johann Bruss, age 4, s. [W is wife, S is son.] The family sailed on the ship Echo from Liverpool to New York City, arriving 19 September 1839. I have now confirmed that this is the correct family by correlating the sons' ages with birth records from Cammin, matching details to a naturalization record for the father in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and to an 1850 Census record for Milwaukee, and comparing all details to family information in books by a grandson. Again, I am very grateful for your fine assistance.
