There is a J. B. SMITH in the 1820 Jasper County census, and a James SMITH in 1830. Both men own a lot of slaves and have a family makeup that is consistent between the 2 censuses. Does anyone know if they are the same person? If so, did this James SMITH leave a will? I don't find him in Jasper after 1830. I would like to know the names of his children.
