I ran across some deed records in Ellis County, Texas that may lead to the elusive Samuel George. Deed Record A, Page 374 10 Apr 1854 "Melville Wilkinson and wife Eveline Wilkinson, Bell Co, TX, one part, and Mary Couch, Ellis Co, TX, second part, $225.00 pd, 200 acre tr to be taken out of Wilkinson 1/3 Lea survey in Robertson Dist on Mill creek, a branch of Chambers creek, adj P J GEORGE surv & adj Mill creek. Ack in Bell Co, TX before D G Chamberlain, Clk." In same Deed book, Page 376 "Deed 10 Apr 1854 Melville Wilkinson and wife Eveline Wilkinson, Bell Co, TX one part, and Elvy Jane Regeon, Ellis Co, TX, second part, $249 pd, 222 acres off W end upper surv made for Wilkinson on Mill creek in Robertson Dis as set out. ..." And page 378 of same deed book, "Deed 10 Apr 1854 Melville Wilkinson and wife Eveline Wilkinson, Bell Co, TX, one part, and P G George, Bell Co, TX, second part, $222 pd, 242 acres out of land in 1/3 Lea granted sd Melville on Mill creek & adj cor of Mary Couch surv of 220 acres."
I believe that this Mary Couch is Mary "Polly" George Couch, wife of John Couch, and daughter of Samuel Couch and Mary ?. Does anyone know who the P. J. George was? Elvy Jane Regeon was Elva Jane Couch Regeon, I believe, daughter of Mary Couch. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have more land information and deed info.
