I got this info from the SAR as I await my application processing for membership, through a different Rev. Soldier. I have the national dar historian working on the info that was used for him to be put on the plaque in WV. Supposedly he was buried there but the graveyard was destroyed in the same flood that took the local DAR records. I personally dealt with a person in Mason County who remembered the flood and the park where the plaque is was covered in over 10 feet of water and the graveyard was almost totally destroyed. That is why they did the plaque. Not sure about the last part, seems the plaque was up before the major flood. May have been a smaller earlier one?

The national said they should have info on the plaque but did not find anything and said it should be documented by some method if one is there. I sent them a photo and info from the SAR as they think the SAR records could have been used by the DAR for the plaque. Checking on the SAR records for more detail. They said if he is on the list, there will some documents showing why he is on it.

The problem with the REV files is that if he did not claim a pension and most did not, then there may not be one. Sad to say but there was about 180,000 people in the Rev.War as it was explained to me and only about 25000 applied for any kind of aid or pension. Does not mean much if there is no file.
