I was having problems running Generations 5.2 on Windows XP. Couldn't save or export files error message was "not enought disk space". The fix was really quit simple. Do the following:
Right click on your Generations icon.
Click on properties.
Click on the compatibility tab.
Set the Windows compatibility to a verision of Windows that worked before you switched to Windows XP (I used Windows 95)
Click apply and close with ok.
This solved my problems so far. If it doesn't work the way you want it to. Try different verisions of Windows.
