I've seen no difference in behavior between the Pro and Home versions of XP (nor has Don Weymouth, my co-moderator of the Sierra Generations message board - among other things he builds and configures computers for genealogists as a part-time job). You may wish to run the Belarc Advisor (free), available from http://www.belarc.com, and send me the resulting report directly (off the message board). Knowing what shows up in the startup tab of msconfig would also be useful. Regards, Mike H.
