Can save a copy to C: on my desktop, just can't save it inside the Generations folder.
Here's something very cool I discovered in the Generations HELP files. I've been saving an exact copy of my file all these years...maybe this will help someone else:
SAVING A COMPACT COPY OF A FAMILY FILE
EasyTree will create a compact copy of your family file, in which it attempts to remove holes or unused links in your family file. "Holes" are deleted records that, over time, result in accumulation of free space within your file. In addition, the compact copy has no lists stored inside the family file (like the index, calendars, etc.). However, if you open and work with a compact copy, it will behave normally, and the lists can be regenerated and saved.
To save a Compact Copy of your family file, choose Save a Copy from the File menu and select Compact Copy from the Type pop-up menu.
Repairing Family Files
EasyTree performs another important function when it creates a compact copy, as it attempts to repair invalid links and corruption in your family file.
