Cathy,

QUESTION
I just re-read your response. When you write that I must transfer my file from the CD to my hard drive before I can open it, do you mean that I cannot just put in in the D drive and click on the icon as I have done with other files on CD?

ANSWER
Correct. This is because Generations needs to read *and* write to the family file all of the time it is open, which is not possible if the file is on a CD-R disk.

QUESTION
If I must transfer the file to my hard drive first, could you please let me know how that is accomplished? I have never transferred a file from a CD to a hard drive before. I have the Genreations program on this computer, so that should not be a problem.

ANSWER
Drag it from the CD to your hard drive using Windows Explorer.
