The other names on a marriage Bond, are witnesses or the name or names of the person who put up the bond. It could be anyone, and doesn't have to be a relative. A lot of the bonds were put up and witnessed by relatives but that wasn't a requirement. In the case of some of my ancestors who lived in North Carolina, which had marriage bonds, I know a couple of them were signed by the person the my ancestor worked for and another was signed by the father of the groom. The names can be helpful clues, though, in finding more information about family.
