I have traced my line from Kegsworth, Leicester, England to 1800 when Hugh and William Gascoigne/Gaskin left Aston-upon-Trent, Derby, England. I have gone all through Aston-upon-Trent and found Simon and Dorothy Gascoigne. They were married in Elvaston, but lived in Aston. After Dorothy died he married Ann Watkins but I don't think they had any children. I have looked at earlier records in Elvaston and Dorothy and Simon were from Aston. Simon died in 1689. I believe Hugh (married to Winifrod) was his son just because all the dates match up. Hugh died in 1746. I wonder if anyone has anything to link Simon to anything earlier. Simon is also spelled Symon and Gaskin could be Gaskyn or Gascoigne depending on the clergyman recording the parish records. You know how that goes.
