Family report just completed by the Research Centre in Co.
Wexford.
JOHN GAHAN and MARY SUMMERS(from Crownyhorn) were married
11, Jan 1820, Roman Catholic parish of Ferns register. Wit:
John Murphy and Dorothy Gahan.
Couple lived in Ferns, Ballyfoley and then Ballyregan.
Children:
DENIS GEHEEN, bap. 16, Febr 1824. Sponsors DANIEL GEHEEN &
Majory Hore. He died 17 March 1847, buried in Ferns.
DOROTHY GEHEEN bap 19, Dec. 1825. Sponsors JAMES and ANNE
GEHEEN. Married JOSEPH COGLEY Sept 1845, mother of 6
children. She's my gg grandmother.
JAMES GAHAN bap 17, Jan 1826. Sponsors Lough Doyle and
ELLEN GAHAN. 1901 census, a widower living in Ballyregan.
JOHN GAHAN bap 29 April 1929. Sponsors James Larkin and
Anne Dempsy. Leaves abt 1849-1851 for NY State, in 1852
marries an Mary Ellen Murphy, 1860 they move on to Ill.
DANIEL GEEHEN bap 29 Dec. 1831 sponsors John Murphy and
Julia Dempsey
MICHAEL GAHAN bap 18 Oct 1833. Sponsors Thomas Murphy and
Anne Berney. 1901 census living in Ballyregan with his
brother James.

John Sr. died at the age of 49 years on 24, Jan 1846 and
was buried in Ferns.
Looking for help identifying the sponsors and/or gravestone
inscriptions in Ferns for John Sr., Denis, Daniel and
Michael. Dorothy Geheen Cogley died abt 1854/55 and don't
know if she is buried with Gahans in Ferns or with the
Cogleys in Ballyregan or Ballyfoley.
