Looking for info on parents or origins of William Gegan/Gagen (or variation of this name) from Ireland who moved to Scotland and married Agnes Russell in Cumbernauld, 1874. On his death certificate, his parents show as William Gegan and Mary McCormick, however, he first appears on a Scottish census as Gagen. Unfortunately, I have no information on where in Ireland he was born. There are so may corruptions of this name that the original name in Ireland may have been Gagen (or something else). Thank you
