I am looking for information on James DAVIS (b. 1796 in N.C. and m. Jane LEMON of Pendleton S.C. in 1819). that was living in Pumplin Vine, Paulding, GA according to 1860 and 1870 census data. The district listed on the 1860 census is district 942. Family legend is that he was an elder of a local church (Baptist or Presbyterian). His wife Jane is on the 1860 but not 1870 census. Prior to living in Paulding he was in DeKalb Co, where son Samuel Warren DAVIS remained after marrying Martha GREER. Any information on James or this branch of the DAVIS family would be greatly appreciated. Even clues into early churches that he could have been affiliated with would help.
