I'm not sure about a connection between Union, Paulding County, and Union, South Carolina. Union, in Paulding County, is a relatively new place name. Until after the turn of the century the Union community was called Etna I believe. The old militia district courthouse was near Doug Swafford's store. I always assumed that Union took its name from Union Church back behind the school. It may well have been named after Union District SC as I know a good bit of the families buried there came from Union District, (Swafford's, etc.) Jaosn Lee Edwards "Beulah" Paulding County, GA |
