James Graham Futrell was born August, 1855 and died August 9, 1922 in Chesterfield County, SC. I do not know at this point where he was born in NC but I believe it may have been Red Springs. He married Ida Coker from Chesterfield, SC and they moved to Red Springs some time after 1881 when they married. They returned to Chesterfield County, SC in the mid 1890s to take care of Ida's mother, Drucilla Thomas Coker. Drucilla died in 1900 and James "Jim" and Ida decided to stay in Chesterfield County. They are both buried at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church cemetery in Chesterfield County, SC. Their children are listed as follows. (note **I am indebted to Albert Futrell jr. for some of this information.)
Minnie Futrell b. Dec 1881; married an <unknown> Irby from Chesterfield County, SC. She had a son named Albert Futrell. I would like to know the name of the Irby man that she married and if they had children together.
William Allen Futrell (I need more information on him)
Annie Irene Futrell b. May 1886 d. 4-17-1949, married Preston Belton Polson. They had eight children who were all raised in Patrick, SC.
Alma Futrell (I need more information on her)
Maud Madeline Futrell b. Nov 1891; note ** the Chesterfield County marriage records state that a "Maud Futrill married an "Allie Cassidy" on April 28, 1913. I have not been able to find any other records on them. If anyone has futher information and is willing to share, I would greatly appreciate it.
Pearl Mary Futrell b. 1891 (I need more information on her)
Ernest Leroy Futrell b. 1893 (I need more information on him)
Richard "Hopson" Futrell b. Dec 1898 d. 6-26-1953. He remained unmarried and is buried in the Patrick, SC public cemetery. Everyone that I have spoken with who knew Hopson says he had bright red hair.
James "Lacey" Futrell b. c1903 d. 3-30-1957 He married Dessie Leary on July 28, 1928 in Chesterfield County, SC. They had at least one daughter named Faye. I would like to know what happened to Faye and if she had brothers and/or sisters.
If anyone can provide additional information, ie birth and/or death dates and children, I would be grateful. I'm particularly interested in the James Futrell's origins in Red Springs NC. If any family members are researching the Futrells from Red Springs, please contact me.
