This is a new problem. Because of a computer crash, I had to reload Windows, reload all the software of course, put the Family Tree Maker back up files on, and I added more memory. I have several family files. All of the others do not have this problem. The index of individuals comes up almost immediately on them. Also this particular file comes up as an .FBC file. I looked at the files and there is no FTW file for it on the list under Family Tree Maker. Is that as it should be?
