For what it's worth ... There has been discussion on this forum about whether James J. Fredregill (1824-1889) m. Nancy DEACHTEL, BACHTEL or BECHTEL. I don't know the right answer, but I found the name cited as Nancy BECHTEL in "Iowa Cousins: A Genealogy", by Amelia Wulf Beck and Juanita Comegys Gettman (1983.) This book brought my wife's line down to her mother and her three older siblings (but not to her, or her younger brother.) I found this book in the library of the Iowa State Historical Society in Iowa City. There was a good deal of FREDREGILL info in this book, though I found the data conflicted in several spots with what I'd found elsewhere. Regards, Randall Thomas
