I think I have found the right family: In 1930 Biddeford: Lester A. Foss-45-Cashier- Railroad Sarah S. Foss-47 Richard S Foss- age 22 In 1920, Biddeford Lester A. Foss- age 36 Sarah S Foss age 37 Richard S- age 12 In the 1910 census of Biddeford: Lester A Foss- age 26 Married 4 years- Clerk on B & MRR Sarah S Foss-wife age 27 1 child born 1 living Richard S. Foss-son age 1 Ellen M Foss-mother- age 60 In 1900 census of Biddeford: Ellen M Foss b.Nov 1847 age 52-widow 3 children born 2 living. Self and parents b. ME Charles Foss- son b. Mar 1875- age 25 Lester Foss-son- b. Jan 1884- age 16 In Biddeford- 1880 Charles H. Foss age 29-Carpenter Ellen M.wife- age 30 Charles L.-son- age 5 Alva H-son- age 2 Charles H. died between 1886 and 1892, as Ellen is listed as a widow in the 1892 Biddeford Directory. Also living in Biddeford in 1880 were Artemas, Augustus and Daniel Foss, all brothers of Charles. See below: In the 1850 census of Standish, ME Ebenezer Foss- age 63-b. ME (father of Job) Job Foss- age 38 Lucinda-wife age 38 Greenville-son- age 8 Irene A-dau- age 7 Artemas son- age 6 Susan F-dau- age 5 Daniel-son- age 3 Augustus-son- age 1 In 1860 several of the children living in Standish but with another couple- perhaps relatives: Richard Libby age 71 Mary Libby age 58 2 Libby daughters Daniel Foss age 13 Augustus Y.Foss age 11 Charles H Foss- age 9 (b. 1850/1851) Mary A Foss- age 6 Close by: Job Foss 49 Elizabeth L(ucinda) 49 (Mainers sometimes switched names) Greenville E-age 18 Amanda I- age 17 ( was Irene A in 1850) Artemas M- age 16 Susan F- age 14 Lucinda M- age 4 By 1870 Lucinda had died and it appears that Job had married a Dorcas. Still living with him were: Amanda-27 Susan-23 Augustus-21 Charles- age 19 Mary A- age 17 Lucinda- age 14 In 1880 in Standish. Job Foss-67 Dorcas Foss-56 In 1880 in Biddeford: Artemas M Foss age 35 Nellie R. Foss- age 32 Hattie Foss- 12 Clarence Foss-age 10 Next door: Augustus Y Foss- age 32 Emma Foss- age 26 Mabel E- age 4 Also in Biddeford: Daniel T Foss- age 32 Emily J- age 30 Sarah J.-age 9 Samuel J- age 7 Lucius M-son-1 month. Charles H. Foss married Ellen M. Sawyer 5 Oct 1873 in Biddeford. Ebenezer Foss was born 18 Jan 1785 in Lymington York, ME died 20 August 1855 in Standish, ME Buried in Small cemetery on his farm York Hill, River Rd. South Standish, ME. He was the son of Job Foss and Eunice Chick. The latter information comes from research done by a Richard Colbath. No sources given but perhaps a road trip in the summer to the Cemetery, if possible, might be interesting. Ellen's family information could also be given, but perhaps this is a start.
