Hi John, My family originated from Bristol, particularly around Oldland and St Phillip and Jacob (St George). My great grandfather Walter Henry Roberts married Sarah Ellen Britton at St Mary's Church Bitton in 1891. There were quite a few Roberts/Flook marriages and it seems that all Roberts families (before the laying of the rail road) were related to the St George Roberts'. At this point in time I'm looking for the parents to Joseph Roberts who was born in Bristol in 1842. His farther was Thomas. The LDS site has thrown up a marrige between Thomas Roberts and Mari Ann Pavey in 1842 here:- http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/IGI/individual_record.asp?recid=100086626259&lds=1®ion=2®ionfriendly=British+Isles&frompage=99 It does look as if they did have a son named Joseph, but born in 1857, but thi could well be wrong as I have found out in other records. Nice to see another Roberts Flook connection. |
