I've seen the claim, as have many of you I'm sure, that Samuel Flake married a Harris. She is usually listed as either Alcy Harris, or Sallie Harris. "Sallie" is of course a nickname for Sarah. (Samuel Flake is often also shown as having a previous wife, Agatha _____ and the memorial marker for Samuel in the Hooker-Flake cemetery states, "In Memory of Samuel Flake 1701-1802 His wives Agatha and Sallie Their children and their slaves." "Alcy" is the wife named in Samuel Flake's Will and Testament which is recorded in the Will books on file in Anson County, NC. Perusing various messages on the Harris and on the Anson County Forum I've seen some claims that some of the Harris families of Anson County-Montgomery County-Richmond County, are from Granville County, NC and it is claimed, descended from a Capt. Thomas Harris. I also found a on the Harris Family Forum, a message (#9561) posted by "deborah hoffman(flake)" and dated January 02, 2001, which states that Samuel Flake married Sarah Harris, daughter of Stephen Harris and granddaughter of Capt. Thomas Harris of St. Martin's Parish in Virginia. I did searchers on the Harris Family Forum for "Captain Thomas" and for "Capt. Thomas" and for "Capt Thomas" and got several pages of message listings. I've not checked on RootsWeb to see what's over there, yet, but on GenForum alone, there are AT LEAST a couple of hundred messages pertaining to this "Capt. Thomas Harris" on the Harris Forum (and probably several hundred, although some of the messages which came up in the searches are duplicate and refer to the same message), and I'm still perusing them. There is apparently quite a bit of debate on the old man and from what I gathered from some of the messages there are several contemporary individuals to this Capt. Thomas Harris in Virginia who are also named "Thomas Harris" and consequently there is apparently much confusion among the Harris researchers as to just who is who, so to speak and this Capt. Thomas Harris character has a number of conflicting claims made for him, but a connection to Granville county would not be unreasonable from a standpoint of logical migration patterns from Virginia. I'm curious to learn if any other Flake family researchers have gotten this far along with the Harris connection? Jay
