Looking for information on the 1864 Brooksville/Bayport Raid, espically on the families whose farms/plantations that were burned. These include the Ellis family, David Hope, William Hooker, and Leroy Lesley. Were there others that were raided, or destroyed, during the first couple of weeks of July 1864? I have most of the primary and secondary sources on this subject, including: McCullough, “My National Troubles” Ellis, “Confederate Diary” Official Records of the Army and Navy Compiled Service Records of members of the 1st Battalion, Special Cavalry; Second Florida Cavalry (US); and 2nd United States Colored Troops A Millennial History of Hernando County Grzelak, Hernando County during the Civil War Harrison, “The Booksville Raid” And, web pages by Blankenship (David Hope), Bair (McCullough), VanLandingham (Wm. Hooker), Stone, (Lesley), Cannon (The Brooksville-Bayport Raid), Thanks for the help. Regards, Michael C. Hardy www.michaelchardy.com |
