In abt. 1766 Henry and Archibald Finley Jr., the sons of Archibald and Margaret Kelso Finley left Bucks County, PA and headed south with the Barnhills' and some other families. It is said that Henry and Archibald left the rest of the group with their families when they reached Loudoun County, VA. Some researchers believe they stayed in Loudoun County, but I have found no proof of that. In Virginia land grants I find that Henry and his son Archibald received about 50 acres each in the Cedar Creek area of Shenandoah County. In the 1789 census of Shenandoah County I find 2 different Archibald Finley's, Henry Finley, Alexander Finley and Robert Finley. Does anyone have enough information about the Finley's of Shenandoah County to figure out who is who? I'm especially interested to know if Archibald Jr. (Henry's brother) was in Shenandoah at that time. He is my direct ancestor and I find him in Harrison County, VA (WV) in the early 1790's. He died there in abt.1797. Thanks very much.
