Bruce Patterson, Saint-Laurent Herald and Registrar of the Canadian Heraldic Authority, will give a virtual tour of the Authority to illustrate the day-to-day operations of a government heraldic office, along with a selection of Canadian grants of arms.

The Canadian Heraldic Authority was established in 1988 within the Office of the Secretary of the Governor General at Rideau Hall in Ottawa. Since that time, close to 2000 coats of arms and other heraldic emblems have been created for and granted to Canadian individuals and corporate bodies. Seven full-time heralds work at the Authority in designing arms, in maintaining heraldic records, and in encouraging sound heraldic practice in Canada.

Mr. Patterson has worked at the Authority since 2000, and has made three previous presentations to the NYGBS jointly with the College of Arms Foundation.
