The West Central Ohio Genealogical Workshop Group, consisting of the Allen, Auglaize, Hardin, and Mercer County Chapters of The Ohio Genealogical Society, is sponsoring Dr. George Schweitzer at an all-day seminar on October 22, 2005, at the St. Marys Theatre, 119 W. Spring St., downtown St. Marys, Ohio.
Dr. Schweitzer will present three lectures: Rivers to Trails to Roads to Canals to Trains (a migration lecture), Researching in Burned-Out Counties, and Civil War Genealogy. Dr. Schweitzer uses historical reenactment to teach genealogy and dresses in period costume to fit the lecture.
Schweitzer, of Knoxville, Tennessee, has lectured to over 200 genealogical and historical societies in the U.S., Canada, England, and Germany and has authored 19 genealogical guidebooks.
His genealogical guidebooks and videotapes of these lectures and others he has given will be available for sale at the workshop. Exhibitors and county genealogical chapters will be selling publications and genealogical products. Table space for chapters is free. Seating is limited.
Free parking will be available and the theatre is handicap accessible. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the first lecture starting at 9:00 a.m. The workshop will conclude at 3:00 p.m. Cost is $30 prior to the event and $35 the day of the event. Lunch is included. Pre-registration is requested by October 15. You may register by sending payment to: West Central Ohio Genealogical Workshop, P.O.
