My cousin and I are trying to find the parents of Henry George Elkins, born in New York State around 1835. Henry shows up in the 1860 census for Jackson County Michigan in Rives Township. He is living in the household of George and Angeline Covell. He has married the oldest of their three daughters, Ellen. Other daughters in the family are Alzina and Ida. Henry and Ellen had a son, born 9/29/1860, named George Henry Elkins. Ellen died either in or just after childbirth. Henry then married Caroline Amanda (Carrie) Van Campen in Jackson Michigan in 1863. Caroline was the daughter of Elijah and Sarah (Sally) Van Campen. Elijah died in 1862 at sea while a member of the 93rd New York Infantry. The Henry Elkins family then moved to Iowa along with Sally Van Campen. Any help that I can get would be greatly appreciated with trying to find his parents.
