Ada was my grandmother.She was born January, 18, 1880. She had 4 children by John Eisenbarger. Audry (A. J.), Leland, Vodra, and Marylee. Audry and Vodra are both dead. She was widowed in 1932 and Married Ira Bird Williams in the 50's. He was a carpenter and was staying in a rooming house next door to my grandmothers place in Bethany, Missouri. I'm not sure how they met except in his passing her house and she sat on the porch a lot. I remember him asking her to marry him many times. Grandma Ada did not want to give up her married name. He had his own special water jug in her ref. that he always drank from. Sometimes he would come to her house for a meal. I stayed a lot with my grandma and was only around 10 at the time. Once I saw her kiss him goodbye. They were married and all he had was a pick up truck so they bought a car because he didn't think she should ride in a truck. He built a garage and two rooms on to her house. One room was his shop that had all his tools and saws. He made beautiful inlaid articles. He made me a hope chest. He built several homes that he rented out and some he finally sold on contract. The other room was grandma's where she kept the deep freeze, canning jars, and extra furniture for the home. Grandpa Bird did bring a bed and a cubboard to grandma's when he married her. He had a daughter that lived by the Bethany Park, Norma. Her daughter, Rhonda Kayle, used to play with me and spend the nights while I was a Grandma Ada's.
