I need help with sorting out these three men.

One seems to have been older than the other because of
having an Occupation known as Mason, which was noted by
his name in Chalkley's records, time frame would have been
about 1756, in the town of Stauton, Virginia.

The other was just old enough and known to have been
reliable enough to have reached a Military Title of Ensign
in the year of about 1766 in the county of Augusta, Virginia, as noted also in Chalkley's records.

Which is which?

Have read that Col. William Edmiston, held the
King's Proclamation for 1000 acres of land in the year of
25 July 1754, this land was later to be found just outside
of Abingdon, Washington County, Virginia.

So what I am asking for help with, is this;

Col. William Edmiston, 1754 with land. aged possibly over
21 years, possibly born before 1734, who did he marry?

William Edmiston, Ensign in 1766. aged possibly over 21
born before 1744, who did he marry?

William Edmondson, Mason of Staunton in about 1756.
I do not know very much about the time alloted for skilled
craftsmen of this era, but would venture a guess that it
would take 8-10 years for a young man to become a skilled
craftmen in any given trade. So in theory if this man was
aged about 16 years, then we add the 10 years of apprenticeship, then another possibly 5 years of experience
as being in Staunton, then this man would have been at least in his late 20's or early 30's, putting him being born before 1726.

The only item that I have to work with is a writing that
was read before the Daughters of Revolutionary War in the
late 1890's that tells of this ladies ancestry.

She tells that her ancestor was William Edmondson and that
he was married 2 times, his first wife being a Montgomery.

She tells that she was the daughter of William Edmondson
though his second wife.

She also tells that William Edmondson had a neighbor named
William Montgomery, who was also his brother-in-law.

She tells that William Edmondson and William Montgomery
lived next to each other on the Holsten River.

She tells that William Edmondson was born in Cecil County
Maryland, in 1724, and that he was the son of Thomas Edmondson, who came to Cecil Co. Maryland from Chester Co.
Pennsylvania, about the year of 1720.

Can anyone help with documentation on sorting out these men

Thank you
