My husband is also a descendent of Elisha Eades/Edes/Eads. His line is Elisha, Charles,(brother to William). I Have seen his name spelled all three ways. The family still owns the farm that Elisha bought for Charles in 1836. He came to Sherman (without looking it up) between 1823/1825 with his friend Dearing Dorman, Sophia's brother. I have been doing Genealogy about 25 years. I have seen where he was born in Mass (I believe Boston). My mother-in-law has been the keeper of a lot of the Eades Genealogy and she has told me for years that he was related someway to Benjamin Edes of Mass. who was a well know printer and the planing of the Boston Tea Party was held in his home. She also told me he was related to Caption James Buchannen Eads of the Eads bridge at St Louis and of the Miss. River fame. In fact I took her to St Louis about 20-25 years ago. She was almost 104 when she died. I am as sure as I can be that these facts are true. He owned land in Batavia, NY in 1810 and(I believe) 1812. His son Charles was born in 1812. I think its possible that he and Sophia were married there. Dearing Dorman and Elisha were friends and came to Sherman together, I have documented proof to this. Also the Dorman's are in the Morman Library on the Computer and its quite extensive. My husband nephew is a lawyer in NY and I am going to ask him to see if he can find a marriage license.
I'm going to be gone most of May and June but will get on this July or August.
I have the maps that show the location of the farms Elisha bought Charles and William.
Happy Hunting. Eileen Eades
