Hi Dick nice to hear from you,we are related because my father was born in Wansford, in what was Lincolnshire, which is now Cambridgeshire. We use to holiday in Wansford every summer holiday, the villagers used to pronounce our name as essum, but here in Liverpool people call us by eessom. As you say it has been mispronounced and mispelt over the years. I do have The Family Bible with William Eassom marrying Martha Smart in 1874, there are quite a few photo's of Eassom's including one of Albert, I don't know whether it is the same Albert but I will try to find his details and forward them on to you.
It is really great to hear from you, sadly my dad died some twelve years ago, he never did lose his Norfolk accent, even after all the years he lived in Liverpool.
By the way,dad has a sister living in Deming, New Mexico her sons and daughters are very proud of their English heritage. I have seen a lot of my ancestors graves in the churchyard at Stibbington, it is quite strange to see a lot of the same family names on the headstones.
I will let you know of any further developments when I get them. Best of luck Bill Eassom
