Don't know if this is your Ambrose but what I have is that John Earnhardt, Jr. b:1825 in Cabarrus Co., NC. He was appointed guardian in 1865 of the five children: according to Union Co., Illinois Guardianship Record, Box 533. This guardianship was for the estate of Ester Earnhart. He married Ester Mary Holleman 3/1/1845 in Cabarrus Co., NC. She was born 1829. Died 1865 in Union Co., Il. They had 6 children: Ambrose, b:Sept 1846, Miles b:June 1848, Rosan b:3/7/1852, George b:Feb 1854, Mary Ann b:Jan 1867, and Sarah b:Jul 1861. Looks like they were all born in NC.
