Jennifer: Austin Dimmitt was born 6 May 1894 in Ottumwa, Wapello Co., Iowa. His father was Samuel Dimmit, born 25 Oct 1866 in Wapello County, Iowa (probably on a farm), and Samuel died 23 Feb 1941. I don't have a place of death. Austin's mother's name was Louis Schertz, born 9 Jan 1872 in a small town known as Dahlonega, Wapello Co., Iowa. I have a list of all their children if you would like it. Also, Samuel's father was Beniah H. and his mother was Elizabeth Ann Padgett. I can provide you with any and all of the information you might need. Also, I'll give you a quick clip of how your family goes back in time: Austin -- Samuel -- Beniah H. -- William. William was the one who was born in Knox Co., Tennessee and eventually moved to Wapello Co., Iowa when the government opened that land to the settlers. His family were pioneers of Wapello Co., and I have pictures of his and his wife's stone at Round Point Cemetery. Hope this helps, Jack Dimmitt McLaughlin (my mom was a Dimmitt).
