State Journal-Register, The (Springfield, IL) - December 16, 2006 Deceased Name: Lorene S. DeVries STAUNTON - Lorene Sophie DeVries, 95, of Staunton died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006, at Heritage Manor of Staunton. She was born Aug. 28, 1911, in rural Mount Olive, the daughter of Frank and Minnie Kruse Adden. She married Carl F. W. DeVries in 1932 in Mount Olive; he died in 1972. A son, Mervin C. DeVries, also preceded her in death. Mrs. DeVries and her husband farmed south and west of Mount Olive. She also was employed by Alberts Nursing Home in Mount Olive and was a housecleaner. She was a member of WEICA and the Sewing Circle, later known as the Dorcas Circle. She was a volunteer for the Mount Olive Care Center for many years. Survivors: son, Elmer (wife, Ruth) DeVries of Staunton; daughter, Ellen Scheller of Staunton; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Zion Lutheran Church, Mount Olive, the Rev. Ben Fiore officiating. Burial: Mount Olive Cemetery.
