Wilda Vail Dawkins
Funeral services for Wilda Vail Dawkins of Columbus, Miss. were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 23 [2001] at Springhill Baptist Church with Bro. Chester Shaw officiating.
She was a native of Lamar County. She worked at American Bosch for a number of years before retiring. She was a homemaker and a member of Springhill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Eddy Dawkins; brothers Lewis Hill Vail, Morris Vail, Wilford Vail and James Vail. She died Feb. 20 at the age of 82.
Survivors include her daughter Joyce (Newt) Young, Millport; son Billy (Edward (Eva) Dawkins Sr., Elberta, Ala.; brothers Billy Grafton (Virginia) Vail, Starkville, Miss. and Bobby (Dean) Vail, Millport; grandchildren Vickie (Greg) Langley, Robbin (Keith) Richards and Billy Edward (Sherry) Dawkins Jr., all of Columbus, Miss., Floyd Patterson and Cody Patterson, Millport, and Bonita (Ted) Dempsey, San Diego, Cal.; and great-grandchildren Amanda (Michael) Britt, Mikki Dawkins, Dalton Richards and Brandy Richards.
Pallbearers were Jerry Blakeney, Mike Vail, Timmy Vail, Kenneth Vail, David Shaw, Hurley Sims, Ray Hancock and Earl Shaw. Honorary pallbearer was Dr. Jerry Turner.
Burial was in Springhill Cemetery with Dowdle Funeral Home of Millport directing.
