Vicki,

I found a Joseph Davison (one S) in 1850 which may be your fellow.

1850 CLAY, PIKE, IN - PETERSBURG P.O.
DAVISON

Joseph age 53, farmer born VA

Elizabeth, farmer, age 49, born VA

James, age 23, laborer, born IN

Hariot, age 17, laborer, born IN

Joseph, age 15, laborer, born IN

Daniel, age 12, laborer,born IN

Jasper, age 10, laborer, born IN

Newton, age 8 , laborer, born IN

John, age 78, farmer born VA

I found the family in 1860 but no Joseph with them so he could be the printer you found. It sure seems likely.

Many of them are in 1870 as well. I can copy these census entries for you if you wish. Joseph and Elizabeth were still living in 1870., ages 73, and 70.
