We may be able to help each other fill in some pieces. Your Margaret Dake is most likely Margaret Ann Dake, born in 1852 in Reach Township, Ontario County, Ontario to Hiram Edmund Dake and Hannah Right. I have found Hiram's mother, Sarah, aged 77, in the 1871 census for Ontario living in Scugog Township with James and Electa Galloway and their children: George 18, John L. 12, Thomas 9, James Warren 6, and H. E. (Hiram Edmund?) 3.
Hiram was born in 1828 in Saratoga County, New York and Hannah was born in 1827 in Ontario. Hiram's parents were Thomas Dake, born in Saratoga County in 1792 and, most likely Sarah Elizabeth Craig. Hiram's older brother, John, was my 3rd great-grandfather. Hiram was an innkeeper in Ontario County. He had the following children (with approximate dates): Sarah Jane born 1850, Margaret Ann 1852, Catherine 16 September 1853, Martha Matilda 1856, Thomas Hiram 17 June 1858, Eliza 1860, Hiram Edmund 1861 (Yes, this conflicts with above as this Hiram died on 24 February 1862 and was buried in the Kendall Cemetery in Reach Township, so I assume that the 1871 census H. E. was another Hiram perhaps.) Thomas was the oldest son of John Deake and Mary Ann Allen.
Thomas moved his family to Pickering, Ontario about 1829 in the company of his sister, Elizabeth Craig's family. Hiram and Hannah married 11 August 1846 in Whitby, Home District (later Ontario County), Ontario. I have some limited information on the marriages of Hiram's daughters. I am waiting on further information on Hiram and Edmund from a descendant of their daughter Martha. This descendant has Martha's bible with the stats written in it.
