Here's an update of what I "know" based on a 1910 census record. Charles Dahms b. abt 1869 NY, married Louisa Schutte b. abt 1874 at sea. Children as of 1910, all born in Ohio: Edward b. abt 1896 George b. 1898 Bernard b. abt 1901 Helen b. abt 1905 Florence b. abt 1908 Robert b. abt 1910 Possibly Charles had brother Fred & sister "Guste" also born in NY, and possibly their father was Charles b. abt 1836 in Germany.
