I have just completed and donated to the Woodbury Public Library a book of about two hundred pages that is a collection of short biographies of a single line of Stoddard men stretching from England in the middle 1500s to the present day. The book includes stories about the Woodbury Stoddards as well as about Woodbury itself, and about the families who married into the Stoddard clan in the years 1700 to 1830 or so. That would include Curtis, Sherman, Strong, Welles, Galpin, Terrill, Northrup, and Goodrich among others.
The Woodbury Stoddards in my line were the Rev. Anthony, his son Deacon Gideon, his grandson Gideon II, and his great grandson Rev. John Stoddard.
The book is really a collection of short biographies of each of these Stoddard men, their wives and their children. It incorporates events of the times, occupational data, and family connections to draw conclusions about what their daily lives were like.
If you have connections to any of these families, I invite you to check with the Woodbury Library or the Old Woodbury Historical Association, who will also be getting a copy.
