Hi, Bill - thanks for your response! You've helped me before - I love the way you elaborate on your answers - VERY helpful!!!! I'm baffled about something that someone sent to me. This was a vital records listing (Norwalk, I believe): Horace T. Joyce, potter, died May 2, 1848, age 24. Also, listed was: Horace Joyce, Jr., son of Horace T. and Harriet, died Dec. 26, 1837, age 1 yr.6 mos.. The older Horace couldn't have been the father of the children listed in the 1850 census if he was only 24 yrs. old! I suppose that could be a misprint though. It said they were both buried at Pine Island Cemetery. Are you familiar with this cemetery at all? Also, I just bought Family Tree Maker and came across "Vital Records of Warren" ---- it listed (pg. 42) Mary, April 3, 1844, JOYCE, Noah D., U.S.N. (???)--,1842 That's all it said - that's exactly how it read........I don't understand it and I wasn't able to bring the actual article up - it's possible that you have to pay extra for that. Not sure yet. But I wondered if you had access to the Vital Records of Warren? (Noah D. and Mary (Foster) JOYCE were my gggrand- parents.) You had found them for me a while back in the Fairfield Co. - S. Norwalk 1880 census. According to that census, Mary would have been born in 1855-------if the 1844 listed after Mary's name in the Warren record is her birth year - then that doesn't match up! Egads! I'd appreciate any input you might have on any of this! Candice |
