In the 1830s Edmund Brace seems to have been a Methodist preacher in training. At the quarterly conference in Sep 1830 he was a "class leader" and at the quarterly conference in July 1832 he was an "exhorter" and at the conference in Feb 1833 he and another member "returned their licenses to exhort" (the other person was later expelled)

By the way, I found an 1814 Hartford Courant death notice for a Henry Brace of West Hartford, was that his father?
Other news items indicate that Henry Brace also owned land in "New Connecticut" in Ohio and a Henry Brace Jr sold some land in West Hartford in 1811.
I can e-mail the book pages and the Courant news items to you if you would like.
