Trying to find migration start point for Abram Shepard (b. abt 1730) and Wm. or Jonathan Pearce (various spellings including Parse, Parce, Pearse) and any others who migrated from Stamford, CT area or Long Island to Minisink/Goshen Orange Co., NY between 1756 and 1779. Other such migrants have been identified as coming from these two areas. Abram Shepard was m. to Temperance Cory. My main focus is the Pearce family, but I think he worked with and traveled with Abram Shepard. Abram does not fit well with the other Shepards in Orange Co. His daughter, Mary Shepard, m. my ancestor Willis Pearce, whose parents I am trying to identify. His father or a relative may be the Jonathan Pierce who died with Abram Shepard at the Battle of Minisink in July 1779.
Clues keep leading me back to Stamford or the Southhold, LI area.
Any help appreciated.
