John B. Dubois, 81 years of age, and until eight years ago a resident of Stamford, died at his home, 2258 Sixth Avenue, Troy, last Wednesday. He was born in Greenwich in 1834 and, until his removal to New York State, lived in this State all of his life. In 1862 he enlisted in Company E, 165th Volunteers, and was soon promoted to color sergeant. He received his honorable discharge in 1864. He was a member of Minor Post, G. A. R., of this city and of the Fifth Avenue Methodist Church in Troy. Besides his wife, Mrs. Jennie Dubois, he leaves six daughters - Mrs. William Hoyt and Mrs. John Ratigan of this city, Mrs R. Jones of Bridgeport, Mrs. Bertha Cole, Mrs E. Smith and Miss Jessie Dubois of Troy - and five sons, Charles E. Dubois of this city, and Samuel D., Herbert W., Burton E., and William H. of Troy; also three sisters, Mrs. Samuel B. Fuller, Mrs. Francis Knight and Mrs. Louise Smith, and a brother, B. F. Dubois, all of this city. Fifteen grandchildren also survive.
