Frances Medora Crowell was my great grandmother. A census record says that she was born in Alabama in 1846 and family legend tells that she was raised by her maternal grandmother, surname Hill, in Georgia. I have seen photos of her family(incredibly)with native American servants. The next information we have on her was when she had moved to Mississippi and married a Union Army veteran, Ephriam Crockett Penley. They settled in Hinds County, MS, and later in Vicksburg. I have been searching for nearly a half century for information on Frances M. and would appreciate any leads.
