Hello there and i had been reading on many croom's arguement article etc..That s right I dont have any evidence about Croom's orgin. (but lot of older my families was telling me that croom come from Ireland but I didnt find any "true" facts
I find one of you mentioned about sharp and Fulton Co ark... Yes I know much about in Izard co Arkansas... My great great great grandmother Mariah (Croom) Smith. She was resided in Oxford Ark. Her brother Wiley who earliest settled in Izard Co in around 1850s and he was founded town, called Croom's Mill from 1850s until about 1883, when New postoffice was established abt 1882 and they re name to Oxford Ark. (from Croom's Mill). Oxford Ar was named after wiley's wife's birthplace in Oxford Mississippi. Croom's Mill was a Cotton Gin that many farmers grow Cotton and sold to Croom's Mill...
Back in 1963, I went To Oxford ark and saw old Gin Mill building was stand (built in 1852) but kind of sagging... just next to Oxford Cemtery. then I went back to Oxford in 1990s when I visited my relatives there and saw Old Gin Building gone! but there is a plaque history about wiley croom who was founded town of Croom's Mill
Mariah's parent had quite large children (16 kids) My father side and his relatives had been in Croom's Mill then oxford for nearly 4 generations until 1930s during depression and many of them left Oxford and seek new life and got jobs in Wash state since where i am now.
I find one about Joel Croom (Croome) said born abt 1657 in Ireland. Is he our line?
