Hello. Can anyone tell me if there is a searchable list of the men who enlisted for the Crimean War? Family legend says that my ancestor, Thomas James Stone (b.1831 Bristol to James and Eliza) was at the Crimea and "there were medals"(probably only campaign ones).
As I am in Australia, I have been unable to source information how to find out if he was really there. I would imagine that he would have joined one of the Gloucestershire regiments if so. He came to the Colony in 1856.
Do I have to resort to paying a researcher to look him up or how do I go about it?
Cheers,
(Miss) AEnone McRae-Clift.
