The classic (but not error-free) book "Honour the Light Brigade" by Canon W.M. Lummis, edited by K.G.Wynn was published by Hayward and Son, London, in 1973. My copy has ISBN 0 903754 03.7. It remains a very special resource for Charge fans, On page 200, I can see the following:- "1106 SMITH (TROOP SERGEANT-MAJOR GEORGE) Enlisted : c. December 1842. Troop Sergeant-Major : 16th October 1854. Wounded and taken prisoner in the Charge : 25th October 1854. To Depot from Scutari: 15th December 1855. Medal : Crimea (B.S.)."
